Why Wrestling

Wrestling is... Inclusive

The Sport for Everyone

Of all sports, wrestling offers the greatest opportunity to participate for individuals of any size, weight, gender, physical ability or socioeconomic status. From the smallest to the largest, at any grade level, everyone gets a fair shot in competition.

Wrestling has long welcomed handicapped, deaf, blind and special needs athletes. These wrestlers compete alongside mainstream wrestlers and win great respect and accolades.

Icons of the sport include Anthony Robles, who was born without a leg and won the NCAA Division l championship; Kyle Maynard, a congenital quadruple amputee high school wrestler who inspired millions with his quest to reach the state championships; and deaf wrestler Matt Hamill, a three-time NCAA Division III champion and subject of the movie The Hammer.

Greater Things Ahead

It’s time to take this to a new level. Our goal is to promote and implement opportunities for all participants and attendees to enjoy the benefits and experience of wrestling.
