In a real-life “Here Comes the Boom” storyline, Charlie Brenneman went from high school Spanish teacher to professional MMA fighter in the UFC.
To make the leap, it took boldness that Charlie wants to impart into others as a speaker, author and media host.
Following a successful high school wrestling career, Charlie took his talents to Lock Haven University where he achieved a top 12 finish at the Division I NCAA championships and 1st Team All-Academic.
He launched his career teaching high school Spanish and spent three years honing his teaching skills. During that time he was unexpectedly cast to participate in Spike TV’s reality game show, Pros vs. Joes, competing against professional athletes – and won!
That spurred Charlie to again leap into unchartered territory to pursue a master’s degree and begin his professional fighting career in the UFC and the competitive fighter “The Spaniard” was born.
In 2011, he was ranked as high as #7 in the world.
His autobiography, Driven: My Unlikely Journey from Classroom to Cage is available on his website.
Charlie currently lives in Pennsylvania with his wife and children.
